Hi,
I'm currently testing GS 8.11 using PS2PDF running on RH Linux 8.0
I have installed ok and have setup severla queus via cups.
When I print a quark page with EPS's in I get very large PDF's out.
The odd thing is that some EPS's Downsample to 72dpi but some don't and
remain
at 300dpi, Thus I Get a large PDF !
I'm using the PS2PDF screen settings and converting to CMYK and
embedding all fonts.
If I substitute the images for Tiffs the PDF file is considerably smaller.
I have also used Helios's OPI oiimaginfo program to interrogate the images,
they all have the same information, i.e. Objects, image, plate,Icon etc.
I have also Played with the ColorImageFilter, ColorImageDepth and
ColorImageDownsampleThreshold parameters, but to no avail. I have also
looked at the ColorImageDict parameter but couldn't work out how to include
the options.
Current line is as below.
gs -dPDFSETTINGS=/screen -dProcessColorModel=/DeviceCMYK
-dEmbedAllFonts=true file.in file.out

I would greatly appriciate your input here, as Acrobat distiller would
render the PS to about 600K instead of 29Mb that I get with GS.

Many Thanks,
     Adrian.
