Adrian,
Artifex Software does watch this list since we are the ones that do
98% of the maintenance and development of Ghostscript. The primary
person assigned to respond to bug-gs has been out.
Please send us a file that results in the large PDF size. Quark has
some PS procedures that they use that often are not very portable.
In any case we can't analyze it without the file.
If you don't want the file distributed on the mailing list, them just
send it to me.
Note that you can also open a bug on http://bugs.ghostscript.com (our
Bugzilla based bug tracking) and can attach a file there and mark it
'private'.
