[bug-gs] VMerror from 8.14 release

I have just upgraded from GNU Ghostscript 7.05 to AFPL Ghostscript
8.14 on a W2K Pro machine. (I used the executable installer.)

I got this error message:

    AFPL Ghostscript ERROR -25 closing the device.

I was using gs to concatenate pdf files. This only occurs when
working with very large files (the output file when gs7.05
successfully processes the data is about 4 MB. gs8.14 successfully
generates a 2MB output.)

ierror.h suggests this is a VM error. I am not familiar with
troubleshooting VM issues.

This is the command line that I used (it works with gs7.05 but
crashes 8.14; excuse the line-wrapping.)

C:\Apps\gs\gs8.14\bin\gswin32c.exe  -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -
sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sPAPERSIZE=letter -dSAFER -dCompatibilityLevel=1.2 -
r1200 -dNOPLATFONTS -sFONTPATH="c:\windows\fonts;c:\Apps\fonts" -
sOutputFile=handout.pdf handouta.pdf handoutb.pdf

What do you suggest I do to either (a) troubleshoot this more locally
or (b) collect useful data for a reproducible bug report?

Unfortunately my pdf files are confidential so I won't be able to
provide them. (The pdf files are made by Windows ps printer drivers
in combination with gs8.14 and gs7.05. Smaller combinations of all
the data process without errors. I am embedding fonts to provide the
file to a print shop.)

Best regards, David
