[bug-gs] Ghostsciprt build problem |

Ray,

Thank you very much for your response. I took your advice and downloaded
the 8.14 AFPL release and was able to get a clean compile. I also installed
it- thought I still am not sure whether everything worked right. I didn't
get any error messages (lots of warnings thought) during the compile or the
install. However when I call gs it doesn't find it in the path. Shouldn't
the install have set it up so that I could invoke gs directly?
I can invoke gs from the bin directory however I am getting errors. For
instance when I try to print a postscript file

# ./gs -sDEVICE=laserjet chess.ps

When I went to the ierrors.h I find that -9 seems to say I'm trying to
access an invalid file
#define e_invalidfileaccess (-9)

Do you have any ideas as to what I might try, or what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance.
Anj.

Anj,

Note the use of the magic word in the subject to the reply.
We use 'artifex' backwards to allow real messages through
quickly, skipping moderation review and getting piled up
with a bunch of spam.

If you remove the 'bmpa...' devices from the makefile
DEVICE_DEVS= list you won't need the threads library. I don't
know where DG UX puts these libraries, and they may not be
installed on your system.

Also the bmpa* devices are not in later GNU/GPL releases.
You may want to upgrade to 7.07, the latest GPL release or to
the 8.14 AFPL release. Both are far superior to 6.50.
