[bug-pcl] displaying special characters does now work correctly

Hello to all 

I downloaded phostpcl 1.40 and had a successfully installation. 

While converting a pcl-file to pdf (ore something else) the german umlauts went wrong. 
eg: the German 'ü' --> a black sqare 

I've tried many other coding and got other results but never what I want 

My System: SuSE Standard Server 8 with ghotpcl 1.40

a 'cat file.pcl' works fine but a 
'cut file.pcl | pcl6 -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dNOPAUSE -sOutputFile=test.pdf - ; gs test.pdf' 
gets an incorrect File and gs (7.x?) crashes. While viewing in acroread I can see the funny letters :-(

Are there any solutions with it? I read in Version 1.40 this should not happen.
