I was involved in Jazz a few years ago.  In the summer of 2000 I 
completely re-implemented the selection framework in Jazz to make it 
more modular and extensible.  Needless to say, I agree that the ideas 
behind Jazz (zoomable, scenegraph-based GUIs) are very, very exciting, 
and I definitely want to make sure that Fitz is an adequate foundation 
for doing that kind of thing.

After some gnashing of teeth and upgrading my XF86 installation, I 
managed to get mupdf installed and running.  Nice work!  I've just 
started to look through the CharCoal API.

I've found a few pdfs that cause mupdf to crash.  Would you like me to 
make them available to you somehow?
