Setting a 'real' pagesize to Ghostscript before running the bbox device will
resolve this, so closing as 'WORKSFORME'.

One of the largest "standard" papersizes is 'archE', so using:

gswin32c -sDEVICE=bbox -sPAPERSIZE=archE ____.ps

gives the expected:

%%BoundingBox: 52 143 2332 3366
%%HiResBoundingBox: 52.402971 143.569224 2331.818526 3365.867941
