There is a difference in character rendering with the font cache enable and disabled:

  bin/gs -sDEVICE=ppmraw -o '|md5sum' -r300 ./test.ps
  bin/gs -sDEVICE=ppmraw -o '|md5sum' -r300-dNOCACHE  ./test.ps

This is with gshead (r9466).
