That's not quite what the original poster asked for - the original poster
essentially asked for one of two things:
1) being able to mix-and-match headers from one arbitrary external version of
jasper with actual code implementation from another (internal) version of jasper
and vice versa.
2) make ghostcript use an *arbitrary* version of *external* jasper
The first is simply not going to work and not recommended, and second -
considering the internal version works better - is a loss of some functionality
and but may be justifiable on other grounds, and some significant (fairly
major?) enhancement is made to make it switchable as a build configuration
between internal (better?) and external (poorer) jasper.
