Marcos, please re-test this on the G5 and let me know if it's the only issue.
BTW, could you also look at the output from tiger and make sure the rasters are

reasonable from:

   bin/gs -sDEVICE=tiffsep1 -dCOLORSCREEN -o tiger.tif examples/tiger.eps
