Attachment 5525 was generated by ghostscript 8.54, not 8.70. I tried both 8.70
and svn head (on x86_64 linux) with the specified command line options and they
preserves the pdfmarks. So either it is a winows-specific problem or a problem
that's already fixed.

The original pdf specifies /FitR 4-corner-position-based geometry - while the
output pdf specifies /XYZ one-corner+zoom geometry (and not filling the info
in). Since the user has asked for explicit geometry change (a crop),
position-based geometry info probably are dropped in older gs, just to be on the
safe.
