The missing '-', underline and '.' glyphs all appear to be dropouts caused by
rendering the text at low resolution (72 dpi). This is a FreeType issue,
reported as issue #29298. This doesn't seem to be a critical problem, as the
glyphs reappear when rendered at higher resolutions, but it would be nice if it
were consistent (vertically flipped glyphs sometimes *do* render).
