Please do not re-open bugs. Three people say WONTFIX sounds quite final to me.
The advice was offered on a good-will basis - would you rather we just say
WONTFIX and stop responding to any further questions?

My position had not changed: it is up to you to find a solution that works for
your local non-standard set-up, then pursuade your favourite distros that such
non-standard set-up is common enough to apply a off-spec patch, then we'll take
it from the distro (or a public consensus).

If you feel the documentation is inadequate or wrong, we welcome a patch. But
as far as this request goes, please understand the advice was offered on a
good-will basis and three of us has already decided we will not spend time on
it, and that's quite final.
