Screenshot of PDF showing missing characters.

Dear Ghostscript developers,

after installing the latest PDFCreator (which is using bundled GS v9.05) on
Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, the produced PDFs contain missing characters like
'r', 'c' and so on. Also, the substituted font names are some bogus/random
names.

We do not experience this behaviour on Windows Server 2003 - all characters are
showing up fine and substituted font names are like common font names on
Windows machines - Arial, Helvetica, and so on.

Tracing down this problem to installation of several other freeware PDF
printers for Windows (all using GS v9.05 or v9.04 as backend) didn't help - the
generated PDFs all look the same. Even installing the very old PDFCreator
version we are using on Windows Server 2003 (which produces correct PDFs)
didn't help. This concluded it's problably related to PS writer component, and
further tracing down, even the source PS files do have missing characters (when
trying to convert to PDF with some another PS2PDF tool, not Ghostscript, we get
the same results). Installing a commercial PDF Printer tool (probably not using
Ghostscript as backend) generates correct PDF with no missing characters.

It is the first time we have experienced such unusual behaviour. Please see
attached screenshots of missing characters and bogus/random font names.

I can't give the original PDF at the moment (due to NDA, we work in bank
industry), but I can probably manage if such PDF is needed for further
inspection.

Thank you for any help.

With best regards,
SW Cricket
