[Gs-devel] Progress, not perfection, in pdf_sec.ps

An update on the progress implementing PDF 1.4 encryption:
Raph worked on the new keygen algorithms this week. The good news is
that 128-bit decryption seems to work. The bad news is that the spec,
including the private draft raph has for review, is badly broken. The
algorithms for verifying the passwords are obviously flawed (e.g.
comparing results after different numbers of encryption iteration) and
unfortunately the obvious variations don't work either. So we're still a
ways from perfection.
There are a couple of other things to try, and Raph is going to contact
Adobe for clarification. The current work-in-progress pdf_sec.ps (with
lots of debugging output) is attached below, if anyone else wants to
take a look.
