NEW BUGS
--------

#687101 - INTERNAL - Crash in GC on some PDF files.
submitted by: alex
assign: raph?

Current CVS version crashes in GC during interpreting of some PDF
files. gswin32c -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dNODISPLAY file.pdf There's no
crash with -dNOGC.

#687102 - INTERNAL - Optimize gs_c_decode
submitted by: igor
assigned: alex

gs_c_decode is a function computing a character code from a glyph id
with a statically known encoding. Now it does with a linear search. A
binary search wanted with a new table in gscedeta.c, which is
generated with toolbin/encs2c.ps . The job is to improve the
generating tool.

#687105 - INTERNAL - setcolorspace optimization problem
submitted by: alex
assign: dan?

setcolorspace optimization can miss the change of the color space. I
don't have a real world file that fails because of this problem but
I've been bitten by this bug trying to hack a PS file with many
complex color spaces. Probably, we need to calculate a checksum of
the color space and optimize out new color space installation only if
the sums match.

#687106 - USER - gs8 PDF unprintable with Acrobat3
assign: igor?

A PDF 1.2 file produced from TeX using embedded fonts and gs 8.11
under Linux on an x86 machine displays correctly with all versions of
Acrobat, but prints correctly only with Acrobat 4 or later.
Interestingly, the same PS file run through gs 8.00 on another machine
(Sun Ultra 5 running Solaris 8) does not have this problem. One
obvious difference: this latter PDF file renames the TeX fonts, such
as CMR10, to names such as Fa.

#687107 - INTERNAL - image dictionary without /Decode accepted
submitted by: alex
assign: ray?

GS 8.12 accepts image dictionaries without /Decode key, which is
required by PLRM3.

#687108 - INTERNAL - Rejected setpagedevice key is ignored.
submitted by: alex
assign: ray?

GS MUST reject the whole page device dictionary when a key is
rejected. It doesn't do this.

#687109 - INTERNAL - PDF-->pkmraw: 0 0 0 RG isn't solid
submitted by: igor
assigned: dan

This problem is from "gs regression report - 2003-10-21", pdfwrite of
NECPNTD.pdf (pkmraw/300dpi/noband) The created PDF contains 0 0 0 RG,
which I believe should be solid black. Rendering it to pkmraw got a
non-solid color. See the text "NEWBASE" in the 1st page.

#687110 - USER - JobTimeout, WaitTimeout
assign: ??

t's become apparent that I need to kill "runaway" jobs (caused be
broken/overly complex postscript) in a better way. Postscript
contains JobTimeout & WaitTimeout features (described in
http://partners.adobe.com/asn/developer/pdfs/tn/PS3010and3011.Supplement.pdf),
but the code in zusparam.c just returns 0. I was wondering whether
there were any plans to implement these operators, or if you could
point me in the right direction to modify the source?

#687111 - CUSTOMER - Quality of output wth gs8.11 for pdfwrite device is
		     faded as compared to gs6.12
customer: #130
assign: igor?

We are using pdfwrite device with gs to convert a postscript file to
pdf file. While migrating from gs6.12 to gs8.11 we found that the
quality of output generated from pdfwrite device is deteriorated. The
output file generated using gs8.11 when viewed in Acrobat Reader 5.0
appears faded as compared to the output generated using gs6.12.

#687113 - USER - Problem compiling ghostscript 7.07
assign: ralph?

User tried to compile ghostscript-7.07 on their GNU/Linux system with
gcc-3.3 there was no problem with the configure, but make fails.

#687114 - USER - pdfwrite gives invalidfileaccess in file
		 8.11/Resource/Decoding/Unicode
assign: igor?

With gs -dSAFER -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=output.pdf, GS fails
with:
Unrecoverable error: invalidfileaccess in file
   Operand stack:
false Unicode Decoding Unicode Unicode --nostringval--
      /usr/local/share/ghostscript/8.11/Resource/Decoding/Unicode r
