[gs-devel] GNU Ghostscript release numbering

Hi Guys,

We noticed recently you've done new GNU Ghostscript release. It's always 
nice to see more interest in gs! Do you have anything you'd like to feed 
back to us? We'd like to merge enough of the community patches into our 
releases so we can reduce the number of variants distributions have to 
ship.

Also, if you're not doing a fork, we'd appreciate it if you used tiny 
revision numbers for your release, the was ESP Ghostscript does. We find 
that's much less confusing for users and developers alike, and everyone 
knows what upstream release the code is based on. We've not release GPL 
Ghostscript 8.55 yet, but when we do, it will be a different codebase 
from the GNU Ghostscript 8.55 you just put up.
