Quality Logic sells a set of test files, which you can at least point to
as an iteroperability standard. The current set is for PDF 1.7, but it
looks like you can filter based on the revision declared by the file.

Ghostscript definitely does not do everything Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0
can do. Our software is targeted at printing and document format
converson, so in particular we do not implement many of the interactive
features. Javascript, embedded audio and video, article threading,
and so on will not work. We also provide just an engine, not a viewer
application, although a number of third-party viewers are built on
Ghostscript.
However, we do a very good job of rasterizing and converting PDF 1.4
documents for display and print.
