Hi,

I don't have sufficient time to make comprehensive
investigation report, but I think gs-8.x TTF CIDFont
emulator cannot display vertical text, in all versions.

I attached example PostScript file and rasterized
results of several versions.

article9.ps:		PS file including vertical text.
article9_scanned.pdf:	Scanned image of Japanese PS printer output (@ 300dpi).
article9_gs707.png:	Result by ghostscript 7.07.
article9_gs815.png:	Result by ESP ghostscript 8.15.1 without CJK patch.
article9_gs815+cjk.png:	Result by ESP ghostscript 8.15.1 with CJK patch.
article9_gs860.png:	Result by the latest ghostscript.

Apparently, all punctiuations in results by gs8.x
(without CJK patch) are in horizontal forms.
In addition, the latest gs8 cannot calculate correct
centerline for vertical text, it's worse than vanilla
ESP ghostscript 8.15.1.
