I'm pleased to announce that we're now releasing our interpreters
for the PCL/PXL, HPGL and XPS page description languages under
the GPL. GhostPCL was previously available only under the no-commercial
use AFPL licence, and the XPS implementation is new.

The code isn't currently ready for release, but development snapshots
can now be redistributed under the terms of the GPL, and will include
our XPS implementation. Support and licences for commercial distribution
are available as before.

If you're interested in trying out the code, download the latest
snapshot. For example:

  http://ghostscript.com/snapshots/ghostpcl-r2815+7793.tar.gz

  md5 267fb5180f7a16a3ae66e8c173d864f5
  sha1 dd9130a1da17619789cd802fcb30d8ef4a291f99

To build the XPS interpreter, type 'make xps' from inside the
unpacked source directory. This will build an executable xps/obj/gxps

The XPS implementation is very alpha. Don't expect it to work properly,
but it will produce useful output for a subset of documents. Conversion
to PDF isn't working in the above snapshot.

We hope this new licensing policy will make things easier for all our
users.
