Thanks for doing this, and sorry I haven't had time to review until this 
week. We'd like to do an 8.57 release before you merge the esp stuff. 
Would you might working on a branch instead until we can do that? We're 
having a meeting now to discuss the current regressions, so I should 
have a better schedule for you later today.
