[gs-devel] Compiling a static gs

I am trying to compile a static Ghostscript for use on a shared webhost. The
host is running # cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.4.21-53.ELsmp (brewbuilder at hs20-bc1-7.build.redhat.com) (gcc
version 3.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-58)) #1 SMP Wed Nov 14 03:54:12
EST 2007.

I have uploaded other binaries that work fine.

Everything ghostscript I have uploaded fails to run or even produce error
output.

On my local system I downloaded the source and compiled with ./configure
--disable-shared --enable-static --with-static
Then make reported "./obj/imainarg.o: In function `gs_main_init_with_args':
imainarg.c:(.text+0x1fc2): undefined reference to `systempapername'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [bin/gs] Error 1"

Can anyone offer me some advice for accomplishing this?

Can I upload the binary alone or does it need certain environment variables
and filesystem directories?

The ultimate goal is to convert the ps output to pdf and png on the fly from
www.havealoha.com/mahina/mahina.html using device pswrite and png16m.

Aloha

Eric
