[gs-devel] xefitra Performance comparison versions 7.07 and 8.62

I have been using GhostScript to convert PostScript to PDF on an HP-UX
ia64 machine.
 
Using 7.07, I have been getting pages rates of 110 pages/sec, but for
documents over 5,000 pages this rate degrades to 4 pages/sec for a
50,000 page document.
 
Trying 8.62 on the same documents, I get linear performance, but at a
much slower rate, 30 pages/sec.
 
I have tried various compiler options without success.
 
Does anyone have any experience with the differences between these
versions and why 8.62 would be slower?
