[Gs-text-api] Help PS2ASCII

I was using ps2ascii on Redhat 7.2 with GS 6.53 then upgraded to
RedHat8.0 (OOPS).  My life has not been the same since.  I keep getting

GNU Ghostscript 7.05: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1

I have tried everything short of reinstalling 7.2 Please help
