kens Deusdies : that is part of CUPS i think ? If so I would suggest that you start by asking on a CUPS-related forum. If it turns out that CUPS is using Ghostscript to do teh conversion to raster then we will need to know teh actual GS error and the command line being used. We can't tell you how to find that out....00:01.17
Deusdies I am using Cups, but I thought gstoraster was part of Ghostscript (or pdftoraster that is)?00:02.33
I mean when I remove ghostscript the gstoraster/pdftoraster file is removed too00:03.01
kens Deusdies : I believe that pdftoraster relies on Ghostscript, but it is not part of Ghostscript00:04.25
as far as I know anyway :-)00:04.50
Deusdies okay thanks buddy.00:06.06
ray_laptop mvrhel_laptop: on my latest pdf14_clist_optimize branch run, I only get 6 differences (one of which showed NO bmpcmp diffs), but since the changes affect transparency and none of these files use transparency, might these be indeterminisms with the fast-thresholding code ?04:37.47
  mvrhel_laptop: to check for transparency, I used: gswin32c -- toolbin/pdf_info.ps ____.pdf 04:38.49
mvrhel_laptop ray_laptop: I don't know. What device(s) are coming up as an issue?04:40.03
ray_laptop mvrhel_laptop: you can click on http://www.ghostscript.com/cgi-bin/clustermonitor.cgi?report=ray -- but they are pbmraw and plank04:45.22
mvrhel_laptop ok. so those are likely the fast threshold stuff04:47.43
  can you run bmpcmp?04:47.58
  ray_laptop ^^04:48.07
ray_laptop: and you should probably open a bug about this and assign to me04:48.38
ray_laptop mvrhel_laptop: I ran bmpcmp -- one showed no bmpcmp diff, the others showed strange differences04:51.35
mvrhel_laptop looking at it now04:52.27
ray_laptop mvrhel_laptop: some almost invisible diffs, some that looked like end of raster line 'glitchies'04:52.32
mvrhel_laptop yes. ok. we need to open a bug on this and I will track it down04:53.12
ray_laptop mvrhel_laptop: the latter seem more serious where there are solid/dashed/missing line differences on the right edge04:53.22
mvrhel_laptop: AFAICT, these should not be related to my pdf14 optimizations (since they don't have transparency)04:54.01
mvrhel_laptop ray_laptop: I agree04:54.11
ray_laptop mvrhel_laptop: OK. Thanks. I do have one concern about the transparency optimizations, but discussing it tomorrow would be easier than trying to type it out.04:55.24
mvrhel_laptop sounds good. I am too tired now to talk about transparency and be of any use04:55.52
ray_laptop mvrhel_laptop: OK. Talk to you in the AM. Sleep well.04:56.24
mvrhel_laptop yes. you too04:56.33
  robin_watts_mac: you there?19:44.05
I forgot to talk to you about the profile in that file this morning19:44.24
I extracted it. And I had forgotten how I made that profile. It was designed to demonstrate differences in rendering intent settings in a PDF file and the intents def. do not round trip and in fact will fail to the extreme in this aspect. So, I am not going to worry about this case.19:45.57
In other words, these are profiles that one might not expect sophisticated use of the profiles to be that well behaved. That said, we can still send it to Marti so that he can see where he is different than Adobe19:47.09
And if you believe the new version of lcms is ready, then lets go ahead with it19:47.32
robin_watts_mac Hi, sorry.19:53.19
Ah! Foolishly I was thinking that those were our standard profiles (the default stuff) and hence I kinda felt that those should at least come close to round tripping.19:54.17
Well I'm not convinced that 2.4 gives us any massive advantages, other than being the newer version.19:54.41
  (with presumably bug fixes etc)19:54.54
And the 2.4 branch has the rc, not the full thing on as yet.19:55.23
mvrhel_laptop robin_watts_mac: ok I would wait for the whole release. I will send Marti, this profile for him to poke at too.19:56.28
robin_watts_mac great.19:58.57
