rayjj hmm.. The cluster tests gets really S....L....O....W.... with so many machines "--DOWN--"01:39.58
I presume that some of those are in marcosw garage, but I thought some were in Miles' office, so should still be up01:41.09
kens Well the 64-bit VMWare image works on my VMWare player, but there are a couple of problems. Firstly I can't stand Unity. Horrible interface, I've no idea how anyone manages to do anything, its like being presented with a cartoon version of Windows 8. Secondly, everything is hosted on osboxes, and I want it all local.09:59.17
JohnGER hi there10:51.29
ghostbot Welcome to #ghostscript, the channel for Ghostscript and MuPDF. If you have a question, please ask it, don't ask to ask it. Do be prepared to wait for a reply as devs will check the logs and reply when they come on line.10:51.29
JohnGER i'm a programming amateur, just have sysadmin knowledge. for a project, i would like to create a web application for android & ios, which displays a PDF brochure. is there an easy-to-do solution to create/compile web apps for displaying a pdf on mobile devices?10:54.22
kens MuPDF displays PDF on mobile devices, its available for iOS and Android10:54.51
JohnGER the idea is to have the pdf be included -within- the mobile application. 10:55.08
kens I'm not sure why that's a problem10:55.31
If you can display a PDF, you cna display a PDF from memory10:55.40
JohnGER MuPDF, however, takes some extended programming skills?10:55.51
kens Well if you want something other than the standard MuPDF application, then yes. And its AGPL, so you owuld need to make your source code public.10:56.28
JohnGER Making the source code public isn't the problem. Creating any source code at all is the problem. ;-) Can the standard MuPDF application be taken to combine it with one pre-set PDF file, to be delivered as an all-together package to a client who wants to display our brochure PDF on a mobile device?10:58.15
kens I'm sure you *could* do that. But note, I'm not a MuPDF developer, I work on Ghostscript.10:58.39
JohnGER like, there will be one application shortcut/button on the mobile's screen saying "Display <Name's> PDF", and by opening it, it'll show the pre-defined PDF10:59.05
kens None of teh MuPDF developers are online at the moment, but they will read the logs when they arrive, so if you wnt to check back, or read our logs later, they will answer (probably with more questions)10:59.14
JohnGER oh, ok10:59.15
thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic. I will wait for one of the developers to come online and comment on this matter.10:59.43
kens You're quite welcome, sorry I cna't be more help10:59.57
JohnGER I had to reconnect. If anyone knows the answer for my question (have MuPDF show a pre-set PDF file on mobile devices), I'd be very happy about an answer12:16.17
Robin_Watts kens: Unity is indeed horrible.12:34.27
So use xming and have it all appear on your windows box.12:34.44
What do you mean by "hosted on osboxes.org" ?12:34.56
  JohnGER: So, MuPDF on Android...12:35.45
There are 2 entrypoints to the application.12:36.03
The first one is called when someone clicks on a PDF, and mupdf displays just that PDF.12:36.31
The second one is a simple file browser that hunts for the PDF, and when the user selects one, it calls the first entry point to display the PDF.12:36.58
It sounds to me like you want a simplified version of the second one. i.e. when the app starts up, show the inbuilt PDF.12:37.29
JohnGER Hi Robin! Thanks for your reply. Yup, the second option sounds like what I'm looking for.14:20.24
Is there any how-to / manual to get MuPDF work like that? Once MuPDF is being started, it immediately opens the inbuilt PDF.14:22.04
