ZeroWalker is it possible to use PCL along with Postscript? as PCL is a pain for me to replace an logo, i was thinking if i could maybe just use postscript to say "write this logo here on each page", even though tha pages are initially done with PCL?17:46.11
i think PCL has something that tells it when the job is done, so maybe i could just alter where it begins and end and have some postscript send there as well. But maybe printers don't allow that17:47.28
i otherwise thought of rewriting the whole thing in postscript, but ut's kinda difficult, i have manually done parts of it by visual comparison, but it's heavily used with some template to insert text at certain spots. And if i could just read PCL i maybe could do that part as well by translating the coordinates. But it's just so damn hard to read, it basically moves around the "cursor" and i can never tell when it actually 17:51.29
draws stuff, not to mention that it has different text in different languages which i guess it somehow is able to switch between (like say it has both "Thanks" and "Merci" even though "Thanks" is only visible in the print, but i guess if it was set in french on print it would tell it somehow to use that tet instead, no clue how it does that if it's all inside the PCL though'17:51.29
(Yes i do spam, but don't tell anyone!)17:51.39
camelopard ZeroWalker: The use of PostScript and PCL on the same page is not possible but you can convert your PCL logo to a more popular format with GhostPCL.20:16.30
ZeroWalker problem is that the logo is merged with a ton of other stuff. I can't figure out which part of the code is for the logo as i can't really read pcl20:19.11
camelopard You can also use two passes: print the logo first and overprint it with the rest of your document.20:19.24
ZeroWalker i was thinking of doing that with postscript, but i guess i can try in PCL. Currently i think that it has a template along with the logo at top, then it prints that along with the text for each page. So it's only written once in the code. I am quite sure i can write after that code and before the actual pages, so if i can override the logo there it's doable20:35.46
Not sure how to do that in PCL though, but if i can get some hints on how to do something that prints on all pages, i might be able to figure out the rest20:36.51
camelopard, this is the part where you say, look at this!21:15.51
camelopard ZeroWalker: I encountered PCL once long ago and cannot comment on particular on particular implementation details.21:22.00
ZeroWalker damn it! PCL is even more obscure than PS, one can barely find anything, at least i can't find anything that makes much sense;P21:23.25
camelopard I'd rasterize this logo or even redraw it as a vector image. Leave PCL to writers of printer drivers.21:28.02
ZeroWalker the thing is that it's part of an application that just sends this pcl template. I don't care about the logo per se, but i need to replace it or overwrite it.23:28.12
